Office
Office safety at NC State University is an essential part of the campus-wide commitment to health and well-being. Whether in academic departments, administrative units, or support services, office spaces are designed to be productive, inclusive, and secure. The university promotes a culture of shared responsibility, where faculty, staff, interns, and student employees are encouraged to take an active role in identifying risks, maintaining tidy workspaces, and practicing safe habits. From managing cords and equipment to preventing repetitive strain injuries, even everyday tasks are approached with a safety-first mindset.
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Department supports office safety through a range of proactive programs and resources. These include ergonomic assessments to reduce strain from prolonged computer use, guidance on proper storage and lifting techniques, and resources to minimize trip and fall hazards. EHS also provides training in emergency procedures, fire prevention, and indoor air quality awareness. By focusing on prevention, education, and accessibility, EHS helps ensure that every office on campus is a safe and comfortable place to work, collaborate, and support the mission of NC State.
