Employees who use electrical equipment, primarily plug-and-cord equipment, should familiarize themselves with the hazards of electricity and use electrical equipment properly.

Electrical Safety Fundamentals Training – EHPS-OS400 is a 20-minute online training provides a general awareness of electrical safety including how electricity works, primary electrical hazards, controls and safety practices, and what to do during electrical emergencies. It is intended for anyone who uses electrical equipment.
Electrical workers (eg: electricians or trades workers) must receive appropriate training and be provided with tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE) to work safely.
This applies to those who:
- deenergize electrical equipment,
- repair or troubleshoot electrical equipment, or
- work directly on electrical equipment (eg: make connections, repair equipment, install wires or breakers, etc…)
